Meet Charlotte

As an educator for over 30 years, Charlotte has spent her career coaching and mentoring both students and teachers. Her work in independent school admissions, classroom teaching, and supervising graduate students and first-year teachers at the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute, along with navigating the college process with her own college-age children, has given her a deep understanding of the admissions landscape and the variety of pressures families face.

She concurrently works as a college coach with first-generation college bound students for Scholarmatch and as an after-school tutor at 826 Valencia, both located in the Mission district of San Francisco.

Charlotte holds a Master of Education from Mills College and an Advanced Certificate in College Coaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association, and the National Association of College Admissions Counseling.

She raised three children and lives in San Francisco with her husband and their dog, Stanley.

Her Philosophy

At the foundation of her work as a college counselor, Charlotte believes in building rapport and connection with her students first, in order to effectively guide them through the application process with clarity and calm — from building a balanced college list to shaping essays, navigating financial aid, and presenting their strengths effectively. What distinguishes her style is her keen ability to help students identify their best-fit environment academically, socially, and personally.

Charlotte’s experience with educational institutions extends beyond her work as a consultant. As a member of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the School Life Committee for ten years at The Millbrook School in Millbrook, New York; as a teacher and alumna of the Katherine Delmar Burke School in San Francisco; as a parent volunteer at Marin Country Day School and The Thacher School; and as the Director of the Associate Teacher Program at The Nueva School in Burlingame, California, she has worked closely with students, parents, faculty, and administrators to deepen her expertise and understanding of the many ways schools operate.

Charlotte brings a common sense perspective to navigating the college search. She helped us simplify what can be an overwhelming process and took a collaborative approach to developing a plan of action.

- Andrew, parent in Connecticut

Charlotte made the college process much less stressful. She took time to really understand me before helping build my college list. Her calm and thoughtful approach made the process  feel personal, not transactional, and every school we added to the list actually fit who I am.

- Owen, student in Chicago

Charlotte combines warmth, insight, and expertise in a way that truly empowers students. She took the time to understand my son’s story, with tailored, actionable feedback that built confidence and trust. Her support turned an overwhelming process into a journey of growth and success.

- Jenny, parent in Chicago
